Okinawa Gojuryu Karate Kobudo Yushikan
The Yushikan dojo was founded by C. Michial Jones in 1994. Our dojo is dedicated to training traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-do and Kobudo. Our dojo and its instructors follow the training syllabus as established by Eiichi Miyazato Sensei, the founder of the Jundokan.
- Our training and testing curriculum consists of time tested techniques with traditional training methods. We adhere to the teachings of Eiichi Miyazato Sensei and our training reflects our focus on self-defense attitude, philosophy and his lineage.
- Our goals in Karate training is to develop and improve students’ self-discipline, confidence, self-esteem, fitness, balance and coordination. We do not practice sport karate, if students wish to participate in these events Sensei will coach them individually.
- Students will learn self-defense, practical techniques that can be effectively used in difficult situations. One of the things that make this dojo stand apart from other karate schools is the approach of traditional teaching methods, including a strong emphasis on responsibility, accountability and discipline.
We are one of the few traditional karate associations in the East Central, Indiana area. Our martial arts training here at the Yushikan consists of both Okinawa Goju ryu karate-do and Ryukyu Dento Kobujutsu. Our philosophies of training include a strong foundation in authenticity, quality movement, strength, and real-life application. Learning at their own pace, each student training Okinawa Goju ryu Karate-do can promote health, vitality, and a positive impact in society as a whole. The Yushikan welcomes all new members with the same values. The Yushikan is an official recognized and registered dojo in Okinawa and is authorized to instruct and promote students under the authority of Kenei Shimabukura Sensei, Chairman – Okinawa Gojuryu Karate-do Goeikai.
