Sodo MMA

Sodo (総道), meaning “The Comprehensive Way” or “Total Path”, is a hybrid martial art that blends the most effective techniques from traditional and modern disciplines into a unified system, designed to provide practitioners with a complete arsenal for self-defense and combat sports.. Drawing inspiration from Japan’s rich martial heritage and integrating effective techniques developed for versatility across civilian self-defense, competitive combat sports, and law enforcement applications, Sodo equips practitioners to adapt across all ranges of combat—standing, clinching, and ground. Sodo embodies versatility, adaptability, and efficiency.

Jujutsu / Jiujitsu

If you’re looking for Jujutsu / Jiujitsu that combines modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with deep grappling tradition of Japan, our program offers a distinctive and thoughtful approach.

We have expanded our established grappling curriculum by integrating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kodokan Judo, Kosen Judo, and Nihon Jujutsu into a unified system—taught with discipline, technical rigor, and respect for lineage.

Both Nihon Jujutsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) prioritize technical efficiency over raw power, offering sophisticated systems for neutralizing threats through control rather than mere striking. While their methods differ, they share a common goal: ending a conflict as safely and quickly as possible.

Jones Sensei holds black belts in Judo and Nihon Jujutsu, as well as, Purple Belt in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Okinawa Gojuryu

Our primary art of study is  Authentic Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do, founded by Chojun Miyagi Sensei (1882-1953). Miyagi Sensei based his art on his studies with Kanryo Higaonna Sensei (1850-19150). We specifically study the line of Gojuryu, as passed down from Miyagi’s successor Miyazato Eiichi Sensei (1922-1999) and onto Iha Koshin Sensei, Kiichi Nakamoto Sensei (both students of Miyagi and Miyazato) and Kenei Shimabukuro Sensei (a student of Miyazato Sensei). Jones Sensei is a senior teacher of the art licensed in Okinawa with the highest teaching title of Hanshi and is the current President of the World Gojuryu Karate Alliance.

Ryukyu Dento Kobujutsu

Kobu-Jutsu or Kobudo, the traditional weapons arts of Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands, is practiced as part of the curriculum of our Karate. However, we have a separate curriculum for Kobudo in place, so that our students may achieve rank in this art while using it to learn more about Okinawan culture and expand their knowledge of the martial arts. Our practiced Kobudo includes the study of the bo, sai, nunchaku, tonfa, kama, eiku, and other indigenous tools.

Jones Sensei has studied a multitude of various kobudo systems over the years, having trained in Ryukyu Kobudo (Taira method), Matsumura Kobudo, Kokusai Rengokai (Shorinkan), Tokushin Ryu, Matayoshi and Ufuchiku Kobudo. He has been a direct student of Kiichi Nakamoto, President and Soke of Ryukyu Dento Kobujutsu Hozo Budo Kyokai and Josei Yogi, President of the Okinawa Kobudo Renseikai. Jones Sensei holds Hanshi 9th Dan rank in Kobudo.
